Not convinced there’s a problem with plastic? Not sure why cotton is better than plastic net bags?
FACT: The world is addicted to plastic

From Planet Ark
From noplasticbags.org.au
- Australians use over 10 million plastic bags a day
- Plastic waste , mistakenly consumed contributes to the painful death of marine life
- Plastic bags can take between 15 and 1000 years to break down in the environment. Reusable plastic net bags are no different.
- We live with an ocean of plastic soup bigger than the USA.
- We inhabit a a planet where the biggest threat to animals are our lifestyle and its byproducts.
Once you work it out, you’ll never look back!
At the end of their life cycle, our cotton bags can be returned back to the environment at no cost as they are 100% biodegradable. Use them ripped as mulch or cleaning cloths…and then compost them!
What is the estimated lifecycle for a produce bag from ‘the ethicurean’ ?- well we have been using our gauze bags for over two years and they show no signs of giving up anytime soon. The bags made from heavier weight, larger gsm fabrics will last even longer. These are tough bags.
If accidently misplaced or lost, you know your produce bag will break down under normal environmental conditions and not end up a blight in our river system or the cause of death for one of natures sea creatures.
Additionally, our bags (and the cotton they use) are sourced from India. Indian cotton is grown in monsoonal areas, with no need for the use of complex industrial irrigation systems using fossil fuel. As our bags are SKAL certified or fair wage, you know that workers who make the bags and grow the cotton enjoy working conditions that are fair. Plastic net weigh bags sourced from China do not meet the criteria of sustainability or fair wage. Plastic is not a sustainable material and China does not yet recognise or guarantee any international fair wage criteria.
All the ethicurean bags are larger than other produce bags around. You get more versatility from your investment and bang for your buck.
